Where to Find Street Art in Manchester?

August 31, 2017

Manchester is famous for it's football team, music scene, vibrant LGBTQ+ community, long industrial history and great university. People connect Manchester with feminism, the start of computer era and it's seems to be just one of those places that everyone knows for one reason or another.

Funnily enough I had never heard of anyone speaking about the street art scene in Manchester. When decided to travel to Manchester I didn't have a slightest idea that I'd find some of the England's best street art spots in there! Brighton and London are still winners in my eyes but I was mesmerized by the beauty of the murals and the art on the streets was my certainly my favorite thing about city.

Where to find the best street art in Manchester?

The answer is short, simple and pretty obvious if you're familiar with the city.

The Northern Quartet

The Northern Quartet is the heart of Manchester's street art scene and it kicks ass. It's one of those places where you can find street art behind every corner and where the wall paintings can actually be called art. There is obviously some dodgy graffiti here and there but the art is genuinely stunning. You don't need a map, just make sure to peek on every alley and keep your eyes up on the facades of the buildings. The art is everywhere.

Street art beyond the Northern Quartet

Manchester is a big city and there is some great street art all over the town. You can find a beautiful murals in New Wakefield Street and there are some beautiful pieces along the Rochdale canal but mapping the location of every mural you run into is a pain and that's where my recommendations end here.

If you want to spot some street art beyond the Northern Quartet I warmly recommend you to use the hashtag #manchesterstreetart in Instagram. You can find bunch of gorgeous murals all around the town though and if you're lucky people might be able to tell you where to find them.

If you want to go old school just keep your eyes open and keep exploring!

  4. All these graffiti's are so so beautiful. I really cant say which one is my favorite because each one is extra ordinary and they make the whole city look so colorful and gorgeous.
